Before the opening of the NFL season, both Saints and Vikings players walked onto the field and held up their fingers. Apparently, this was a gesture of unity for the upcoming NFL lock out. One problem, had the players not told the announcers about this gesture, then it just would have been a stupid gesture. Memo to the NFL players and Owners, these are tough times and seeing millionaires bitch about millions of dollars doesn’t fly. When the CBA expires and the lock out ensures, there will be ZERO public support. The NFL will take a hit in popularity that will take time to overcome. Without the fans, athletes would be nothing, and owners would have to find other money making endeavors.

So nice gesture millionaires, I hope there is a lock out so you can see what it’s like to not collect those seven figure pay checks. Also, memo to the owners, you are not innocent either. Come to a compromise (you know… like the one that you will eventually sign once you start not collecting those gate receipts) because sports are a wonderful distraction from the problems of the world. We don’t need you to add another problem. Labor negotiations are by far and away the most stupid thing in this country, just make a compromise you fucking spoiled bitches.

Watching the Saints/Vikings game last night got my NFL juices flowing…. However, this could be a transition year for my beloved Patriots. I am not sure what bothers me more, the Patriots defense or Tom Brady’s new hair style.

One thing is for sure, the New York Jets have dethroned the New York Yankees as my most hated professional sports team. There are a multitude of reasons for this, but it really comes down to the fact that the Red Sox beat the Yankees. The epic quest is over, Don Quixote reached the unreachable star. Also, this group of Yankees are pretty likable. Sure Mark Leigh Teixeira is a total douche, but that’s about it. I really do admire this current Yankee team, they are a tight group and they play hard. I still dislike the Yankees, but the Jets have taken it to a new level (well to the pre-’04 Yankee hating level).

Honestly, what is to like about this Jets team? Their obnoxious quarterback? Their big mouthed, triple chinned coach? Their stance against Revis, which pretty much just amounted to giving story line to Hard Knocks. Really, did anyone think that Revis wasn’t going to play this year? The Jets went out and signed every single big named free agent, and then they aren’t going to placate their best player? It was non-sense. It was all just a big fucking show for Hard Knocks, you can not tell me other wise. But back to Dirty Sanchez, does anyone remember that he wasn’t good last year? Does anyone remember the only reason the Jets made the playoffs was because Indy laid down for them like a bunch of fucking pussies? Really. And how about the fact that they dumped their dependable running back, for an aging and ineffective LT. This team is BULL SHIT!

Of course, if they really did suck, I wouldn’t get this worked up about them. Confidence is a big factor in the NFL, and Ryan has them believing. Sure, the Ravens could shatter that with a week one salad tossing, but as of right now… they believe. The defense, one that was elite last year, did get better. Now, if they will play better is an entirely different story, but right now they look like they could be at least equal. The offense added criminal Santonio “My shit hang to my knees” Holmes, who will be a marked improvement over Laver-aneous Coles. Man I hate this team. Hate hate hate the Jets. I am so glad not to be living in NYC, because I am sure the Jets suck-fest is going over board.  What it boils down to is this, I would rather the Jets suck, than the Patriots win the Super Bowl. I know thats stupid, but it is how I feel.

As for the rest of the NFL, I am not going to try to pick division winners because the NFL is quite volatile. At least one team that sucked last year, will win 13 games this year, and the flip side of that coin is true as well. Some team that was good last year, will suck balls this year.  So a few predictions on the season…

-The Seahawks will stink, just wait. Carroll is a fraud.

-McNabb is not taking the Skins anywhere. He couldn’t do it with much better Eagle teams, he is not doing it for an inferior Skins team.

-The Patriots will score a lot, and let off just as many. I predict 10-6, just because Brady and Belichick are too good not to win 10. However, once the defenses catch up the the offenses, the Patriots will struggle. Everything hinges on their young defense, I hope I am wrong, but logic would dictate they are a year away.

-Brett Favre is old, how old? Obama was in law school during Favres rookie year. The Vikings could be one of those teams that slips.

-As last night proved, the Saints are poised to defend their title, but I just don’t see it happening. Mostly because it is hard to repeat.

-I hate to jump on a bandwagon, but I think the Packers are the team to beat. If Minny does regress, then the division is the Packers to take. If they can get home field, I think the Saints would be in trouble playing in Wisconsin in January. So my pick is the Packers, but I say that with no authority.
